Certification of Various Products in the Voluntary Field

Voluntary certification is aimed at organisations that want to demonstrate the quality, safety or performance of their products in the absence of a legal or regulated requirement, bringing a competitive advantage in the marketplace and building trust with customers and partners.

Advantages of Certification

  • it demonstrates the organization’s commitment to quality and compliance, even in the absence of legal requirements;
  • voluntarily certified products can stand out in a crowded market, providing additional assurance to clients and partners;
  • the absence of formal accreditation body requirements allows for a more efficient and streamlined process.

SRAC CERT provides product conformity assessment services in the voluntary, non-accredited field, in accordance with one of the certification schemes defined in EN ISO/IEC 17067:

  • Scheme 1b (for product batches);
  • Scheme 3 (for products). In this scheme, surveillance involves sampling the product at the production site and testing it to verify continued compliance with the initial certification requirements;
  • Scheme 5 (for products). In this scheme, periodic surveillance includes selecting between product sampling at the production site, from the market, or both, to verify that the initial certification requirements are still being met. Surveillance also includes evaluation of the production process, management system audit, or both;
  • Scheme 6 (for the certification of services and processes). Surveillance should include regular management system audits and periodic evaluations of the service or process.

All certification schemes require determining the characteristics of products, services, or processes by one or more of the following methods: testing, inspection, design evaluation, or other assessment activities (e.g., verification), depending on the nature of the product, service, or process, and the requirements specified in the applicable normative document.

Why certification?

Product safety and quality have become major priorities worldwide. These attributes are key differentiators in today’s competitive markets. While national and international standards help maintain a certain level of quality, direct and visible signals must also be conveyed to consumers.

In the European Union, the commercialization of products is conditional upon the application of the CE marking. Each category of products is governed by a specific European directive or regulation that outlines the essential requirements to be fulfilled in order to place products on the European market. If a product falls under multiple directives or regulations, it must comply with all applicable requirements.

Why SRAC?

Certification has become a critical factor in the development of trade and the protection of consumers.
Objective assurance and trust are achieved through the certification of product, service, or process conformity. This is where an independent and impartial testing and certification body, such as SRAC, adds real value.

An SRAC certificate provides confidence and serves as objective proof of compliance with normative reference documents (such as national or international standards, specifications, technical norms, or internal company standards).

The SRAC certification mark is a symbol of quality for certified products, services, or processes.

Product certification means the evaluation and confirmation of conformity by an impartial certification body.

All types of products, as well as processes and services, can be certified.

Product certification involves the initial evaluation of the production process, product testing, and scheduled periodic evaluations (which also include product testing) to ensure continuous compliance with the defined product requirements.
